Spyglass Entertainment to run MGM?
From The Wall Street Journal:
Spyglass Entertainment is nearing a deal to run Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. once the beleaguered film studio finishes restructuring a roughly $4 billion debt load later this summer, said people familiar with the matter.
MGM's creditors have hammered out financial details with Spyglass co-heads Gary Barber and Roger Birnbaum and the two sides have been negotiating the makeup of MGM's new board, they said.
MGM gets Extension
MGM got another extension from its creditors. It now has till September 16th to avoid bankruptcy. This is good news if we want MGM to release Red Dawn, otherwise it may not get released or it could go to a different studio for release and they may not care as much as MGM does about the film. Edwin Hodge interview
iFMagazine has an interview with Edwin Hodge. He talks about his role in the upcoming Season 3 premere of Leverage. In the interview they ask him about filming Red Dawn:
iF: You’re also in the remake of the war-on-American-soil movie RED DAWN. What was that like?
HODGE: That was, if you can imagine, pure chaos [laughs]. It was a lot of fun, though. We shot in Detroit for about four months and we had a lot of machine guns, a lot of handguns, a lot of explosions. Anything that you can imagine happening on an action film, it happened.
Edwin Hodge plays the role of Danny in the new Red Dawn. (Brad Savage's role in the original Red Dawn)

Red Dawn Comic-Con '10 Update?
G4TV is currently running a commercial for their Comic-Con 2010 coverage in July. They show Red Dawn as one of the films they will be covering at Comic-Con. This could just be coverage of the news that we have all been following or maybe there will be something released at Comic-Con. Trailer maybe?
Check out the commercial below.
Maybe we don't have to wait.
The Wrap says they contacted MGM and werre told Red Dawn is still slated for a November release. This jives with what I heard from my source. I do know that everything is on hold till all the MGM problems are sorted out. Don't expect a trailer any time soon. I agree that if Red Dawn comes out after Thor, if it's good, could really help Red Dawn do better.
While we wait for Red Dawn
Here is the trailer for the new game Homefront. The single player campaign was penned by John Milius (original Red Dawn) and looks to be a great game. Looks like it comes out February 22, 2011. More to come.
Red Dawn News updates
There are some more "Red Dawn" stories floating around the internets.
The LA Times: Is a Hollywood liberal conspiracy keeping 'Red Dawn' away from theaters? (And the used my poster too)
Slash Film: More MGM Fallout: Red Dawn Delayed, Perhaps Indefinitely?
As far as the release date goes, I have learned from my sources that this most likely will change. We won't know anything till MGM sorts out their mess.
