We're celebrating what would have been the release of the film by giving away a popaganda poster (pictured here) from the "Red Dawn" remake. This is an official poster from the production. As far as we can tell this poster was not used on screen. It was one of two leftovers from the production sent to us. (see image below) The poster is inkjet printed and 36"w x 48"h.
How to Win?
This is the easy part. All you need to do is make a "Alert Poster" using our Dangerous Citizens Alert poster maker and make sure you like our new Facebook Page and upload your poster to our page. LocaL Michigan article about the delay.
The Daily Tribune: Red Dawn Delayed.
Just putting this up because I'm in the article. No new info here.
5 Reasons 'Red Dawn' Is Secretly a Subversive Anti-War Film
Head over to Cracked.com for one of their "5 Reasons" list about the original Red Dawn.
Red Dawn gets it's rating.
In the latest MPAA Ratings Bulletin Red Dawn (2011) was listed with a PG-13 rating: For sequences of intense war violence and action, and for language. The original Red Dawn was the first released movie to receive a PG-13 rating. Now we just need a release date.
One year ago today...
We officially launched this site one year ago today and very quickly became the main source of publicity and news for Red Dawn. I just want to thank everyone for making this site successful. I know things have been a little slow right now and everyone wants this film to hit theaters soon. We now have to wait till next year, but I promise when it does get an official release date we will announce it here. We will also be doing all kinds of fun stuff here to prep for the release.
Now for some stats:
We launched on the 9/15/2009 and the next day had 681 visitors. On the 9/24 we had over 12,000 visitors. Since then we average over 1,000 unique visitor a day with 390,000 to date and over 970,000 pageviews from 173 counties! Over 14,000 people have made a dangerous citizen poster. Our set photos (and your submitted photos) have been featured on countless blogs, movie news sites, and youtube videos. The Red Dawn teaser poster we made as become "the" image of this film all over the net. We've also stirred up some international controversy.
We have 2,247 friends on Facebook and 221 on Twitter.
It's been a great year and I can't wait to see what the next will bring. Again thank you!
Wolverines!
Red Dawn (2011)
Just a quick update on the release date. There is no set date yet but Red Dawn will not be coming out this year. As of now it will be coming out in 2011. To clear up some confusion from some other sites, the title of the film is just "Red Dawn", the date is not part of the title. You can also get to this site by using this url: www.reddawn2011.com.
Red Dawn Novel based on movie?
Looks like Amazon.com has a listing for Red Dawn by Peter Telep for a October 26th release. Peter Telep has done other novel adaptations before including Red Planet.
Thanks to Matthew from the Facebook group for the heads up on this.
Red Dawn not on hold?
I looks like MGM might still be spending money getting Red Dawn finished for release. According to this tweet from Edwin Hodge he is beginning ADR for Red Dawn.
"It was great filming "One Tree Hill"!!! Now it's back to Cali to do ADR for "Red Dawn" and then off to San Francisco!!! I love my life!!!!"
ADR, is you don't know is "automatic dialogue replacement".The process of re-recording the original dialogue after filming for the purpose of obtaining a cleaner, more intelligible dialogue track.
This is very good news for Red Dawn fans. It means MGM is still investing in the film and could see the light of day on time or with a short delay. I'm still trying to validate that this is Edwin's offical twitter account but it seems legit.
