FilmDistrict to release "Red Dawn" via Open Road Films
Just a little more info about the release of Red Dawn in a story on Variety.com.
Under a three-picture deal between Open Road and FilmDistrict, Open Road will release "Red Dawn" on Nov. 2, sci-fier "Escape From M.S. One," starring Guy Pearce and Maggie Grace, on April 20, and a third film hasn't been selected.
Red Dawn gets a November 2012 release
November 2, 2012 is the slated release for Red Dawn via Box Office Mojo. Figures this news comes out on a holiday. Happy turkey day everyone! Look out for our countdown clock next week.

The Bellingham Herald has an article about all the 80's making a comeback. In this article they have a release date of March 22, 2012 for Red Dawn. We will have to do some research to see if this is a real date or false info. Once we know for sure we will update this story.

New Name, Same Site.
We are now officially www.RedDawnMovieNews.com. Due to all the date changes with this film and the fact that the date won't matter in the long run, we decided this was the best move. The old urls (RedDawn2010.com and RedDawn2011.com) will still direct to this site but please feel free to update your bookmarks with the new url. Looks like a 2012 date is in the works...
LA Times is reporting that MGM is finalizing a deal with independent studio, FilmDistrict, for a 2012 U.S. release.
FilmDistrict Chief Executive Peter Schlessel declined to discuss “Red Dawn.” Given that final details are still being worked out, however, it likely won’t hit theaters until 2012.
I think everyone, at this point, figured we were not going to see Red Dawn hit theaters in 2011. Hopefully we'll see a release date announced and a trailer soon.

The original Red Dawn turns 27 years old today. It was released in theaters August 10th, 1984. It was the first movie to be released with a PG-13 rating.
New cast training image
I don't believe we have seen this image before. It poped up on chrishemsworth.tumblr.com. This photo was taken at Michigan Tactical AirSoft Center during training for the film. Chris Hemsworth, Connor Cruise, and Josh Hutcherson are in this photo, among others.

I'm sorry it has been so long between updates here but there really has been no new news to report on.
In case you have missed it Cabin in the Woods just got a release date of April 13th, 2012. Being that it is now the end of Jully the likelyhood of a 2011 release date is getting very slim. A rumored September release is just too close at this point to be considered an option, but I still don't want to rule out a 2011 date yet. As far as I know everything is ready to go so it wouldn't take much to get the marketing machine going. 2012 is looking more like the year of Red Dawn the more this year moves on.
